Sharing City Göteborg

Sharing City Göteborg is a test-bed coordinated by the City of Göteborg. Partners include Älvstranden Utveckling AB, Göteborgs universitet, Studiefrämjandet, Kollaborativ Ekonomi Göteborg, Akademiska hus, Elof Hansson, NCC Property Development, Riksbyggen, Stena Fastigheter Göteborg, The Food Print Lab, Klädoteket, Majornas samverkansförening och Coompanion.

Examples of Sharing Initiatives in Göteborg

Leksaksbiblioteket (the Toy Library) is Sweden’s first toy library which ope­ned in Göteborg in 2018. As a member, you can borrow toys, children’s and baby things. You become a member by paying a yearly membership or contribu­ting your time as a volunteer. The target group is children aged 0-7 years. The range of toys is carefully selected with regard to environmental impact, non-toxic material and pedagogy.

Masthuggskajen is an urban development project in Göteborg, identified as an interesting test area for integrating the sharing economy and is part of the Sharing City test-bed. Actors are current­ly developing and testing new concepts for how to share space and functions in the area and how to make sure that sharing initiatives can remain in the area over time. Masthuggskajen is being developed by the City of Göteborg in partnership with a consortium.

Smarta Kartan (the Smart Map) is a digital platform and guide to the local sharing economy in Göteborg. It was launched in 2016 in a collaboration between the civil society organisation Kollaborativ Ekonomi Göteborg and the City of Göteborg. The Smart Map is open-source and offered for free to other cites that would like to create their own local version.
